Tikkun-KC is a local nonprofit organization which takes empty lots and houses slated to be torn down and transforms them into vibrant blocks filled with revitalized homes, engaged homeowners and urban farms. Tikkun-KC founder Larry Myer has more than 30 years of experience renovating and managing Kansas City urban core housing. Larry chose to work with the Foundation because of its professional resources and to ease his administrative burden, allowing the organization to focus on its mission of changing the world one house at a time. The first Tikkun-KC house was built in September.
Myer was inspired to found Tikkun-KC by a quote from Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. “If you see what needs to be repaired and know how to repair it, then you have found a piece of the world that G-d has left for you to complete. But if you only see what is wrong and what is ugly in the world, then it is you that needs repair.”
